Songs to Hear

Some songs just need to be heard. Whether they're super catchy or they're deep and whatnot. Here are some of the songs which I think people should hear. :) So if you ever need a new song or whatever...
I'm even making it easy by giving you Youtube links!

Although I am a Christian, most "Christian" music really bugs me. So most of these bands are either "secular" or they are a bunch of Christians in a band.

First off, a list of the albums people should listen to. Rarely is there an album where I only dislike maybe one song off the album. So, in no particular order:

1) Smile, It's the End of the World by Hawk Nelson
2) Icon For Hire's self titled album
3) Five Score and Seven Years Ago- Relient K
4) Dear Diary- FM Static
5) Excellent- Propaganda
6) Instruments of Mercy- Beautiful Eulogy

And here are the specific songs you should hear, I put them on a Youtube playlist........

"Lofty" by Propaganda.
Propaganda is rap. So if you don't like rap you probably wouldn't like this song. But I think he communicates God's awesomeness beautifully in this song.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezz3xLUz5Oo

Favorite lyric:
"But worth, value, and beauty is not determined by some innate quality
But by the length for which the owner would go to possess them
And broken and ugly things just like us are stamped 'Excellent'
With ink tapped in wells of divine veins"

"Pop Culture" by Icon for Hire
Icon is such a great band. It takes a lot for a female vocalist to impress me, but Ariel is simply amazing. This is one of my favorite songs off their new album. But I like the whole thing. So really, listen to the whole album.
This song specifically, though. I love the dynamic of the music and the lyrics are really good.

Favorite Lyrics:
"Check out the men in suits. They're working overtime,
Memorizing what you buy, analyzing what you like.
I think the beat's made to clash and distract while they Cha-Ching!
Try and buy our loyalties back."

"There's a Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered, Honey, You Just Haven't Thought of it Yet." by Panic! at the Disco
So, perhaps this song isn't incredibly meaningful. But that doesn't mean it isn't good. I can't recommend Panic! as a whole. However, I quite enjoy this song specifically. It's fun and it makes me feel classy. Plus the title is just... fantastic...

Favorite Lyrics:
"When you're in black slacks with accentuating off-white pinstripes, woah-oh, everything goes according to plan!"

 Also by Panic!--
"Far Too Young to Die"
"Time to Dance"
"Sarah Smiles"
"The Only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide is Press Coverage"
"I Constantly Thank God for Esteban"
"Mercenary"
"Nearly Witches"

"Something Beautiful" by NEEDTOBREATHE
I know a lot of people aren't the biggest fan of this guy's voice. But I like it. Especially this song.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEcKPv48Paw

"Hey now, this is my desire. Consume me like a fire. Cuz I just want something beautiful to touch me.

"A Mirror is Harder to Hold" by Jon Foreman
The lead singer of Switchfoot made some solo albums. This is one of my favorite songs off of the four CDs.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ga70ZunXo2Y

"I could try and point the finger, but the glass points in my direction.
Sure you've got your sharp edges, but my wounds are from my own reflection."

"Hello Hurricane" by Switchfoot
I think the lyrics and the dynamic of this song is beautiful.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7JJWqr7Oes

"Hello, Hurricane. You're not enough.
Hello, Hurricane. You can't silence my love.
I've got doors and windows boarded up.
All your dead end fury is not enough.
You can't silence my love."

"Happy" by Nevershoutnever
Another band whose songs I can't wholly reccomend. But this song is so cute.
 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuD8PgPbKaY

"You make me happy, whether you know it or not."

"Your Song" by Mayday Parade
Although it's sad and whatnot, it's a really beautiful song. If you listen to the acoustic version. The other version just gets on my nerves.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8-wQKkGgi0

"And I could call you 'Babydoll' all the time.
And you'd whisper in my ear. You'd say 'I miss you boy. So sing it over again and over again and over again.'" :3

Also by Mayday Parade that you should hear:
"Last Night for a Table of Two."

"Diamond Eyes" by Shinedown
This song is basically the definition of epic.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mHCXx5nTGk

"I'm on the front lines, don't worry I'll be fine. The story is just beginning."

"Sorrow" by Flyleaf

I like it both when Lacey and the New girl (Kristen?) sing it.
Here's Lacey: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWP-01DZxKo
If you don't like her I'd check out the version on their new EP with the new singer. But I didn't feel like finding it so.... I know it's on Spotify....

"Sometimes life seems to quiet into paralyzing silence."

"Anthem of the Lonely" by Nine Lashes
Contrary to what the name of the band would lead you to believe, they're actually a Christian band.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgS1zjvCPF4

And I don't have a favorite lyrics because I like them all. So there.

"Feed the Machine" by RED
This song.. Just.. AH
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2vIWub0XNY

"Turn around they might be watching. And you'll never disappoint them.
Hide your innocence before they see right through. you mustn't disappoint them."

"Shook" by Thousand Food Krutch
This is off their "Welcome to the Masquerade" bonus album. But I love it so much and I'm really mad it wasn't released on the original album.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pu0NjFGjNMM

Again. I like the whole song so...

"The Part the Hurts the Most (Is Me)" also by Thousand Foot Krutch
Another TFK song because they are just so amazing. I really just like the guitar. But the whole song is excellent.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDU-x7xkW-w
I'd recommend the whole album, actually. It's excellent expect for maybe one mediocre song.

"Pray Tell" by Anberlin
Not sure what it is about this song. But I love it quite muchly.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lu_s4ekVihY

"Do you like your shadows in there?
Keep in the dark now. Are you scared?
What will I find out over time?
Waiting for the moment to arrive."

"Everything Has Changed" by Taylor Swift ft. Ed Sheeran
Alright so I'm not the biggest fan of Taylor Swift. But my brother bought her album "Red." And this song was on it and it was just one of the sweetest things ever and the music video is adorable and Ed Sheeran has the voice of an angel.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1oM3kQpXRo

"All I feel in my stomach is butterflies. The beautiful kind."

"Tell Me I'm a Wreck" by Every Avenue
Really I just think this song is kind of funny.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8Yteygkbbk

"It started with a pointless argument. You said that I forgot to complement the dress you wore that night, that I've seen a thousand times!"

"Heart Song" by KB
This song equally convicts me and encourages me. Another rap song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_29WF57iJ0

"They say the good die. That only happened once."

"If It Means A Lot To You" by A Day to Remember
So, I can't recommend everything by this band, but I will definitely recommend this song. His voice is amazing and goes really well with the girl's voice. Plus it's interesting because it's kind of sweet and happy and then suddenly get's really sad and angry. I've never heard a song change like that before.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21YJcWdiNfI

"Hey, Darling. I hope you're good tonight..."

"Every Little Thing" by Hawk Nelson
Hawk Nelson before they became Christian contemporary. Just listen. You won't regret it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sb9Ch8g3hfY&feature=kp

"She's got perfect reasons says she love to talk to Jesus."

"I See Fire" by Ed Sheeran
This song was the credits song for "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug." It song gives me chills, man. Did you know that he watched the movie and then wrote this song after he saw the movie. It's his reaction to the movie. HOW FREAKING COOL IS THAT??!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uf8Fwiy0Bkc

"And if the night is burning I will cover my eyes. Cuz if the dark returns then my brothers will die."

"Car Radio" by Twenty One Pilots
So I don't really know what the rest of this guy's music is like, but I heard "Car Radio" on my iHeart Radio station. I really like the premise of the song:  His car radio gets stolen, so he's forced to think about stuff since he doesn't have that distraction anymore. I'm pretty sure it's a true story...
It's a really thoughtful song. Kind of depressing I suppose. I dunno. I just think people should listen to it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EL2Il415DQ0&list=PLS9jvGwnafx76Tyu4r88-yWvj3DeH7O2Y&index=23

"I'm forced to deal with what I feel. There is no distraction to mask what is real."

"The String That Ties Us" by Beautiful Eulogy
Really awesome spoken word about Christian love at whatnot. Just give it a listen:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyo3Gm75Evs

"Bored of Education" by Propaganda
I just really like this song. He makes some good points. I'd love to hear what you think.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CW6geoRsrUI

"Remember when you were in Kindergarten and you had to learn about worms. You went outside and played with worms. What a novel idea!"
"There's not a Scantron on the planet that can measure inspiration."
"You're just testing my ability to regurgitate."
